While some people may argue, marijuana is bad for everyone there are some positive uses for some people. I think it should be legalized because it helps with epilepsy, cancers, and childhood diseases. It is legalized in multiple states it should be legalized in Kansas.
Diseases are very important to watch and make sure nothing gets worse. One of the main childhood disease is epilepsy. “Epilepsy is a neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness. There is a way the researchers have been looking at, and that is cannabidiol. Epilepsy is a disease that affects one and twenty-six people at any point in their lifetime.”(Amy Brooks-Kayal, MD, chief of pediatric neurology at Children’s Hospital Colorado) Recent stories say that children who have a positive outcome from marijuana derivative, this gives reasons to further study it. Also more than seventy-five kids with epilepsy who has taken the marijuana derivative for treatment of seizures, only approximately one in three have shown any improvement. All this gives us reason to Encourage further studies on it.
Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body. Normally, human cells grow and divide to form new cells as the body needs them. A number of small studies of smoking marijuana can be helpful. Cannabis Oil is helpful is that it treats nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy. THC and CBD hijack the lipoxygenase pathway to directly inhibit tumor growth. Also it is helpful with reducing social anxiety. The cannabis plant extracts 2.5-120 mg of the CBD oil combination by month daily for 8 weeks. Some of the side effects are dry mouth, low blood pressure, drowsiness. The effects of orally administered CBD-rich cannabis oil can last for four hours.
“Cancer is a leading cause of death for children ages 5-9 in the us. The majority of the available treatment can be incredibly harsh on the body.”(Anna Wilcox April 4, 2016)
Cannabis oil, a highly concentrated marijuana extract, is thought to aid in pediatric cancer treatment in two ways. One way is it can help cope with severe side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. The other way just helps with the extreme nausea and pain that often accompany the standard treatments. “Cannabis oil receiving a standing ovation after five pediatric patients who used marijuana. Even in a patient’s young as 8 years old, supplementing traditional cancer treatments with cannabis oil contribution to normal weight gain, low levels of nausea, and better sleep.” (Marijuana for Medical Professionals 2014 Conference held in Denver, Mara Gordon)
In conclusion why I think marijuana should be legalized. It has expanded to great lengths to help people young to old. It helps with epilepsy, cancers, and childhood diseases. It is legalized in multiple states it should be legalized in Kansas. It should be legalized everywhere for that matter.
