If we are able to maintain our position of leadership, we must see to it that today’s young people are prepared to contribute the maximum to our future progress; because of the growing importance of science and technology, we must necessarily give special attention to education in science and engineering (Doc G).There was also some concern towards the youth of that time era and what they needed to learn for the future. Eisenhower wanted to improve relations with the Soviet Union during the Cold War era, especially after Joseph Stalin died in 1953.
Dulles and Eisenhower were able to strengthen NATO and also create SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization) so that they could combat communist expansion in that region all because the threat of Soviet nuclear weapons technology started rising.
