This article discusses the overall progress of the Affordable Care Act after five years of being set in place. The article talks about the healthcare reforms that were put into place during the first five years of the Affordable Care Act, while briefly discussing the insurance changes that occurred. Many of the insurance changes were not finalized until 2013, therefore these are not discussed in depth. The three major healthcare concerns, cost, access, and quality have all been impacted by the Affordable Care Act and the changes that came with it. The article also does well is explaining the controversial issues when dealing with the public and the Affordable Care Act. Many Americans did not agree with being forced to have health insurance, or having to pay a tax penalty, however, most Americans have been surprised with how the ACA has impacted the United States healthcare industry, in a positive way. I believe that this article did well in describing the first five years of the Affordable Care Act, and provides a lot of interesting information about the progress the ACA has made.
