The purpose of this lab is to build a strong enough tower to hold the most weight We had to be careful, because our tower could only be 20 grams. So we had to be careful about how much glue we put on. The tower could be no more than 8 inches so we had to measure carefully and make sure we do the math right. This caused me to learn how to focus a little more because I had to be careful of what I do because I didn’t want to mess up and break it.Procedure of lab:First we had to choose partners. My partner was Alex. The first day we spent time researching about balsa towers. The second day we researched again. I found a lot of information about the competition that is held. Like sometimes before they weigh it they put it in some type of oven and they “bake it” so that the moisture in the wood would leave the wood. I thought that was interesting. The third day we started to plan a design. Alex did a lot of the math and I was there to kind of watch and see if I had any different ideas. Alex was more of a designer. The fourth day I was gone but Alex started to cut the wood in the right measurements. The fifth day we started to build. I sorted out the shape and glued it. Alex helped hold the wood together and kind of guided me as we made the design.
