The figure above is anchored from the Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory of Motivation. This theory explains two groups of factors that influence teacher retention, the motivator factors and the hygiene factors. Herzberg in his study with various workers including teachers showed that factors that caused satisfaction are not the same factors that caused dissatisfaction in the workplace. The satisfiers were termed motivators, factors that motivates teachers to stay in the organization. Dissatisfiers are the hygiene factors, which are basically the maintenance factors in the company such as pay and others that are necessary in the working environment of which does not necessarily motivate employees but cause dissatisfaction when not implemented appropriately (
