It tells the emotional development of protagonist Elizabeth Bennet ,Who Learns the error of making hasty judgements and appreciate the difference between the superficial and the essential.the comedy of this novel lies in their manner, education ,marriage and money during the British Regency. Elizabeth is the second daughter of twenty years old who is intelligent .
This story tells the discourse of Elizabeth and Darcy ‘s relationship is ultimately decided when Darcy overcome his pride and Elizabeth overcomes her prejudice. Mr.Fitzwilliam Darcy is the hero of this novel the wealthy friend of Mr.Bingley. A new comer to the village, he loves Elizabeth Bennet. Mr.
Bennet is a late middle aged landed gentleman of an average income and lives with his wife and five daughters in Long bourn estate which is entailed to the male line. Mr. Bennet is a social superior. Her main ambition in life is to marry her daughters off to a wealthy man . whether or not any such matches will give her daughters happiness. Jane Bennet is the eldest of all sisters who is most beautiful young lady who falls in love with Charles Bingley.
Mary Bennet is the middle of the Bennet sisters, the plainest of her siblings. She is serious disposition and mostly reads and plays music. Catherine kitty Bennet is the fourth daughter. She 8s portrayed as the silly young woman by Jane Austen .Lydia Bennet is the youngest of all. She is frivolous and head strong person.
She was running off with George Wickham, although he has no intention of marrying her. Charles Bingley is the handsome and amiable wealthy young gentleman from the North of England. He lacks resolve and is easily influenced by others namely two sisters Miss.
Caroline Bingley and Miss.Louis Hurst , both disapprove of Bingley ‘s growing affection for Miss.Jane Bennet. 4 This novel tells after the success of sense and sensibility, nothing would have seemed to be more natural. The major theme is to bring the importance of environment and upbringing in developing young people character and morality and social standing and wealth are not necessarily advantage in her life. This novel tells the major factors like marriage. The opening lines tells “It is truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of wife”.
Wealth -Money plays a key role in marriage, not only of young ladies seeking a well-off husband, but also for men whom wish to marry a women of means.Examples- George Wickham and Colonel Fitzwilliam Class- There is a under current of old Anglo-Norman upper class and they are traditionally Norman surnames. Self knowledge – Mr. Bennet is only aware of “material object ” and not of her own feelings and emotions. Style- pride and prejudice employs a narrative of free indirect speech.
