Yes, I do think there is a role for co-creation in science. In order to jointly produce a mutually valued outcome, there is a need to have a role for co-creation to bring scientists of different background together and have a blend of ideas from direct customers or viewers which in turn creates new ideas to the organization.
The IPCC was established to provide decision-makers and others interested in climate change with an objective source of information about climate change. The IPCC does not conduct any research nor does it monitor climate related data or parameters. Its role is to assess on a comprehensive, objective, open and transparent basis the latest scientific, technical and socio-economic literature produced worldwide.

The role of science in our society is to ask questions, to facilitate free and open access to information, to provide facts and evidence that can guide and shape policy, and to contribute to the betterment of society through technological improvements. Scientific discoveries and innovations play a critical role in increasing our nation’s living standards, ensuring our national security and improving our families’ health and well-being. From the development of new medications to technologies that make our environment cleaner and our lives safer, the application of scientific information is essential in guiding public policy decisions.
If I were to engage in co-creation, I would get companies (particularly small and medium-sized enterprises) to try and interest researchers from institutes or universities to collaborate and deliver a product.References
