David Takayoshi Suzuki is a geneticist, broadcaster, and an environmental activist. He was born March, 24, 1936 in Vancouver British Columbia.
David Suzuki is important to Canadian history as he is apart of the Science Council Of Canada, he got the Environment Programme Medal, and is a active environmentalist.
The Science Council Of Canada was a scientific advisory board for the government that began in 1966 and ended in 1993. The purpose of the council was to advise the government of climate change and what should be done to fix it. The greatest contribution of the council was the conserver society which Suzuki was apart of.
The United Nations Environment Programme is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda. The Environment Programme Medal was awarded to suzuki by the United Nations. He was given the award for his 1985 CBC special called “A Planet For The Taking”. This show was one of the most watched shows in CBC history. This series not only contributed to awareness of climate change in Canada, but internationally.
